We started life 12 years ago as an asset manager, helping banks and receivers to market and sell repossessed or receivership stock.
More recently we launched a sister company designed to work with local estate agents and mortgage brokers around the country. The idea has been to centralise certain parts of the estate agency sales process and allow local property professionals to use our service to enhance the client experience and reduce costs.
We have fully tested this concept and are now rolling it out across the UK.
The advantage of being a small, nimble, tech driven business is that we can change direction quickly.
COVID-19, for example, has recently driven us to redirect our resources to provide a solution to estate agents all over the country who may have been facing the real possibility of closing down their business for good.
These may often be businesses with strong local brands, highly satisfied customers and a track record of posting healthy profits. Yet through no fault of their own they may be facing closure.
Continued market pressure on costs and margins mean that many local agents are looking at better ways of structuring their businesses. We see an opportunity for AOL Services to help them drive down their costs by letting us take over their ‘back office’.
We believe there is an opportunity for us to work with property professionals throughout the UK with a view to bringing this low cost / high quality customer experience to consumers looking to sell or let property. We are working not just with local independent agents, but also with mortgage brokers, IFAs, developers and house builders.
For example in the mortgage world, we have discovered a huge opportunity for us to work closely with brokers and provide their clients with a different solution for handling property transactions. By working together we are able to ensure vendors and landlords benefit from a low cost service, backed by a high quality team of professional agents, all under the umbrella of their trusted mortgage adviser. It is a win win situation.
So our strategy is based on the concept of centralising the parts of the process that lend themselves to being centralised, but using local knowledge and experience where it is essential to do so. Our growing network of Partners is therefore an important piece of the Agent Online jigsaw.
Having worked with estate agents, mortgage brokers, banks, receivers and housing associations for over 10 years, we were actually quite late in signing up to a review site.
